ZHIWALING HOTEL, PARO

The 45-room Zhiwa Ling combines the sensibilities of a fine Bhutanese guesthouse with the best of 21st Century technology. UMA RESORT, PARO

The hotel is located on a 38-acre site atop a tree-clad hill, close to the town of Paro, which is one of the main cultural centres of Bhutan.It is also where the nation’s only airport is located, with flights to Bangkok, Calcutta, Delhi, Dhaka, Kathmandu and Yangon.

The nine superior doubles are 25 square metres, featuring large, oversized bathrooms and separate showers, DVD players, heated towel racks, minibars and in-room yoga mats.

The nine deluxe doubles have the same facilities, but are
larger at 32 square metres. In the two suites there are separate sitting, dining and study areas.In the eight one-bedroom villas enjoy a private spa and courtyard.The headline two-bedroom villa has all this plus an even greater privilege of space (300 square metres) and endless views.

PUNAKHA

AMANKORA

A short drive or walk takes guests to the lodge compound which is centred around a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse. This grand structure, with its vegetable dye wall paintings, is now the combined common guest areas of the lodge with the Dining Room situated on the ground floor and the upper floors offering intimate relaxation areas and a traditional altar room for prayers or meditation. The courtyard of the farmhouse is arranged for outdoor dining and relaxing in Punakha's temperate climate. Beyond this is a newly built two-storey Spa building housing a yoga/meditation room which provides open views of the surrounding paddy fields and on its lower level encompasses two private treatment rooms, a steam room and changing area.

Eight suites, located in three rammed-earth buildings, are situated in an orange orchard with views across the rice fields and back up the Punakha Valley. The suites are identical to the design of the suites at Amankora, Paro, featuring wood panelled interiors, a traditional bukhari, king-size bed, terrazzo-clad bath, shower and vanities, and day bed. Suites are individually heated during the cooler winter months and air-conditioned in the summer months.

Yankhil Resort is one of the most elegant establishment in the historic town of Trongsa, offering 21 rooms of modern design combined with traditional Bhutanese architecture. Lush colorful gardens, fish pond and view of mountains soaring over 10,000 feet add to the resort’s natural exotic landscape. A relaxed country-club atmosphere within the establishment create an ideal destination for guest seeking solitude or adventure filled recreation pursuits.

Indoor Dining room, built with traditional architecture offers deliciously prepared Bhutanese, Chinese, Continental and Indian cuisine. Outdoor dining space provides a casual open air setting while enjoying a breathtaking view of Trongsa Dzong, Ta Dzong and surroundings. Dechen Hill Resort is the first cottage house in Paro.Incepted in 1984, this is the first private property in Bhutan to come up in the service industry after Olathang Hotel, which was regulated by the Government of Bhutan until (1999).

Situated beautifully with a commanding view of Bumthang valley and river, the lodge features comfortable rooms, done up in traditional style. All rooms are equipped with attached bath, running hot & cold water, heating.

Restaurant with traditional décor and beautiful view offers, Indian, Chinese and Bhutanese cuisine and bar has the selection of international and Bhutanese beverages.

The lodge also has a small library, with good selection of books on Bhutan’s history, art and culture. The utility shop here offers variety of Bhutanese hand crafted items, such as jewelry, textiles and basics traveler accessories.

MIPHAM LODGE, BUMTHANG

Newest property in Bumthang and the only lodge in the town which boasts of having bath tub facility. It is owned by a monastery and managed by a family. Located 3 km north-west of Bumthang.
